King, the owner/innkeeper, loves to have guests and is used to a full
house after raising six children and entertaining during twenty years
associated with a major airline. During her airline years she helped develop
tourist attractions in Mexico, Central and South America and was a tour
conductor to places as far away as Hong Kong.
With her children grown, she decided to return to her native California and the ocean and took over the Babbling Brook Inn. She owned and operated this twelve room bed & breakfast in Santa Cruz for twelve years. With her talent it was recognized nationally as an award winning bed & breakfast.
That experience taught her what guests like and value most, and she has put it all together in this 2 suite spa retreat on San Juan Island. She has won several baking competitions. Helen holds a women's world record for Pacific Big Eye Tuna on 50lb. test line for over 30 years. You will see "Charlie the Tuna" hanging in the inn foyer when you visit. Her reputation as a gracious innkeeper and perfect hostess is well known throughout the hospitality world.

"Helen King is the consummate hostess -- able to enter a room and make each person glad to be her guest. She is truly interested in her guests' happiness and has the skills to see that their surroundings make that possible. Helen has mastered that difficult balance in innkeeping of being present and available without being overbearing. I am looking forward to her newest creation, which I am sure will incorporate all that she has learned in her years as a successful innkeeper."
